Maria Montessori s vášňou a často opakovala, že dieťa sa počas prvých šiestich rokov života nachádza v absolútne jedinečnom období života. Absorbujúca myseľ bez námahy nasáva svojou plasticitou všetko, v čom sa pohybuje. Okolo troch rokov je potom pripravená vnemy začať triediť, porovnávať a dávať im aj veľmi detailné konkrétne pomenovania. Agátka práve vstupuje do tohto druhého obdobia. Doteraz ju triedenie, ale ani priraďovanie nikdy nezaujímalo. Som zvedavá, kam ďalej smeruje.
Nedávno sme sa začali trochu viac sústrediť na vône okolo nás. Korenia, bylinky, dážď, kvety. Dokončila som konečne aj čuchové dózičiky. Tie pravé sa dajú kúpiť napríklad tu na montemama.
Keď čítam pôvodné texty Marie Montessori, fascinuje ma, koľko detailov vedela vnímať na živote a aktivitách. Celé hodiny a dni pozorovala deti v Casa dei Bambini a následne o tom dlho uvažovala. Pozorovanie a vycibrené vnímanie pokladala za nesmierne dôležité. Bez schopnosti rozpoznávať zmyslami detaily by nikto nemohol robiť svoje remeslo, ani oceniť umenie a krásu. Ale ani byť prítomný vo vzťahu s druhým človekom, ozýva sa vo mne.
Sú to práve naše zmysly, ktoré nás prepájajú s okolitým svetom a ľuďmi v ňom. Prajem si, aby naše dievčatá vedeli s otvorenou a plne sústredenou mysľou počúvať, hľadieť, ovoniavať a dotýkať sa sveta okolo seba. Aby finálnym súdom nedali vojsť príliš rýchlo. Aby v rozhovore s druhým človekom počúvali pozorne, kým nepovie všetko, čo potrebuje. Aby vlastné reakcie nepostavili vyššie, než to, čo počúvajú a pozorujú.
Kým ich bytia absorbujú všetko, čo robíme, sme to my, kto potrebuje byť tými pozornými poslucháčmi a pozorovateľmi. A pre ne zatiaľ túžim vytvárať príležitosti v ktorých sa môžu s týmto krásnym svetom spájať cez svoje zmysly naplno, sústredene a jemne. Raz budú vedieť načúvať nielen spevu vtákov, ale aj druhým ľuďom.
Maria Montessori deeply desired to highlight the importance and uniqueness of the first 6 years of human life. The Absorbent mind effortlessly learns from its surroundings. This hunger for learning will never come back once the brain loses its plasticity after the early development.
When reading Montessori, it always fascinates me, how much detailed she saw the life and activity. She spent hours and days observing and thinking. Observer, that she was. And she believed it is of utmost importance to make the senses so delicate that they can guide person in the daily tasks and appreciation of the world around.
Observing. What rises in my mind is my hope for our girls not only being able to observe their surroundings, but people around them as well. Without the need to jump in a quick verbal production, I want them to be able to listen. Without fast judging, I hope they will enjoy watching what other people do.
For now, as their mind absorbs everything I do, I remind myself I need to be the patient and attentive listener and observer. For themselves, it is time to enjoy all this beautiful world has to offer and I want to create many opportunities for them to get in touch with it through their eyes, through their noses, ears, hands and mouth. It is their time now.
After a long time I finally finished our smelling bottles. Here in Slovakia, they can be bought here at montemama. At almost 3 years old, Agatka is now ready to sort all those stimuli she has gained since birth, finding the connections, delicate differences and specific names for all of it. Besides giving her this toy, I try to keep in mind the natural scents our home has to offer, especially spices, oils and herbs in our balcony garden.
